Dr. Patricia Geyer serves as Head of School at the Long Island School for the Gifted, a PreK-8 school with over a 40-year legacy, dedicated to providing an outstanding education for academically gifted children.
Since joining LISG in 2016, she has focused on driving innovation by evolving LISG’s programs and offerings. She is pushing the boundaries of LISG’s accelerated model to embrace curiosity and imagination.
Under Dr. Geyer’s leadership, LISG has expanded its offerings with a strong focus on innovation, enrichment, and community. Highlights include the introduction of a STEAM Lab and Maker Space, the launch of a Green Program, and the integration of expert-led instruction for both students and staff.
In 2022, Dr. Geyer also established the Therapy Dog Program, further supporting student well-being. Additional initiatives that have flourished during her tenure include the Shakespeare Festival, Reading Week, Lower School Community Meetings, Student-Run Clubs, Parent Salons, After-School Programs, Makerfaire Day, and her co-chairing of the Gifted Symposium.
These programs reflect a commitment to fostering creativity, connection, and a vibrant learning environment for all members of the LISG community.
In addition, for the past 30 years, Dr. Geyer has served as professor in the Department of Teaching, Literacy and Leadership at Hofstra University, where she teaches literacy methods to pre-service teachers at the graduate level.
